10 Things You Could Do This Evening If You Go Home On Time

By Dayna Spear, June 21

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all well.

Believe it or not, today is actually #GoHomeOnTimeDay. Yes, it’s a thing.

Many people overlook the importance of focusing on themselves and unwinding of an evening when they’re busy at work. So, today is the perfect opportunity to NOT stay at work late and to get yourself home to focus on YOU. So, we’ve devised a list of 10 things you could do tonight if you go home on time, which we promise are better than staying behind late!

1- Make A Homemade Dinner

Use going home on time as an opportunity to whizz up something spectacular in the kitchen. Whether you’ve got loads of cookery books already or need to surf the web - try your hand at a brand new recipe - there’s absolutely tonnes out there to suit everyone. Even if you already believe you could give Gordon Ramsay a run for his money OR you can’t so much as fry an egg, you may end up impressing yourself and really enjoying it!

2- Spend Quality Time With Your Pet

If you’ve got furry friends at home and maybe haven’t been giving them all the attention and love they deserve recently, take tonight to chill out and spend quality time with them. Brush your cat, give your dog a nice bath, shower them in treats (duh) … whatever it is, relax with them and appreciate them! Animals can be great for de-stressing and unwinding, too.

3 - Pamper Yourself

Pets aside, humans need some quality ‘me’ time, too! Run yourself a bath, relax and put those feet up! It’s vital to chill out properly after a days work and, sometimes, doing absolutely nothing is the best way to do so!

4 - Workout!

Going home on time means you have the opportunity to do a workout from home. Why not? (Uhh, I mean…personally, I can think of plenty of reasons why not, but let’s pretend to be a fitness guru for this post.) There are absolutely tonnes of *free* YouTube videos with great workouts from REAL fitness gurus out there, so you’ll have ample choice. If you don’t fancy that, why not go for a run or a cycle outside?

5 - Make The Most of The Weather

We’ve been pretty lucky so far this year with the lovely, warm, sunny weather. Although, due to the fact that we’re in temperamental England, this most probably won’t be around for much longer, so make the most of it while you can! Go out for a walk, get some fresh air in your lungs, and your body and mind will feel refreshed and rejuvenated!

6 - Meet A Friend You Haven’t Seen In A While

It’s easy to get bogged down in work life and not socialise as much as you might want. Why not take tonight as an opportunity to meet up with a mate you might not have seen for a while? Send that text and make those plans! You won’t regret it.

7 - Read A Book

Simple, but it’s something I personally hardly ever do anymore. I used to be a right bookworm, but feel like I never have the time to read anymore! It’s a great way to unwind, so dig out an old favourite and spend the evening reading.

8 - Focus On Your Hobbies

Whatever your hobby may be; from knitting to baking, to painting to gaming, spend your evening after work on it, and most importantly, enjoy it! If you haven’t got a favourite hobby, rekindle an old childhood one - trust me when I say it’ll be fun!

9 - Spark Up A BBQ!

Don’t waste the gorgeous warmth and sun tonight - eat al fresco and spark up a BBQ! A BBQ is always the perfect way to get that summer feeling - and if you go home on time, you might even grab enough time to make a jug of pimms to go with it! Winning!

10 - Catch Up On TV

Okay, so this one isn’t exactly very exciting or creative, but it’s necessary nonetheless! You may have missed out on the last 3 episodes of Love Island and be desperate to catch up on the beef (aren’t we all?) so switch on the TV and get watching!

So, that wraps up today’s post! Make sure you get yourself home on time tonight and enjoy the time to yourself! Speak next week!
